Our Efforts in The United States

The United States of America (USA), is commonly known as the United States (U.S.), is a federal republic composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.

The U.S. is a very large country that spans from the east coast and New York, all the way to the west coast and Los Angeles. In between you find beautiful cities like Chicago and St. Louis along with the awesome mountain landscapes in Appalachians in the east and the Rockies in the West.

Currently, we host many astrophotography workshops lead by world renowned night scape photographer Wayne Pinkston. Our founder Dr. Paul Lynch has joined for the first of two back to back workshops and has produced this fantastic night sky panorama. All proceeds from both workshops are going directly to USA causes, Navajo Relief Fund and Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Arizona.

United States - Social Problems

the United States is a powerful country in the world today. It has made its mark in the history by building a strong economy that every other nation envies, and idolizes as well. But, all that glitters is not gold. And every country has its pluses and minuses. There are some serious social issues in the United States as well that need to be dealt with to maintain the position of power and prestige, and set a true example of ideal society in the world.

Around 13-17% American population lives below the federal poverty line. The US government does not have an absolute definition for poverty, but it describes the same phenomenon as relative poverty, that is, how income relates to median income. The number of people living under poverty line is increasing at an alarming rate.

It is difficult to assess the economic consequences of several of the U.S. childhood problems fairly, but the rough impression is that problems most endangering the future productivity of our children are adolescent pregnancy, educational/employment deficits and substance abuse. These create current societal costs, such as welfare payments or the costs of crimes which may be promoted by drug abuse or idleness, as well as deterring education or employment opportunities needed to get good jobs and lifestyles in adult years. Given the demographic trends associated with the maturing of the Baby Boomers and future labor shortages, it is more necessary than ever that there are many well-trained and able cohorts of future workers and leaders for the nation.
