Tanya began scuba diving in early 2009, and immediately fell in love with the underwater world. Since then, she has earned certifications as an Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Wreck Diver, Drysuit Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Scuba Equipment Specialist, and Handicapped Scuba Dive Buddy. Her husband and son are also divers. Her son, who is autistic, earned his Open Water certification through the Handicapped Scuba Association. He has turned out to be quite a gifted diver, and they love traveling as a family to dive locations around the world. Tanya is a passionate shark conservationist, and especially enjoys diving with and photographing sharks. She has had the honor of diving with tiger sharks, hammerheads, sand tigers, makos, blue sharks, sandbar sharks, whitetip reef sharks, Caribbean reef sharks, lemon sharks, whale sharks, and nurse sharks. Sharks are apex predators, and the ocean needs them to maintain a healthy and balanced ecosystem. She hopes that her images will show the incredible beauty and grace that sharks possess – they are truly worth our time and energy to help protect. Tanya’s photography work supports Diveheart.
